Hollywood, CA - What's better than watching the Season 3 finale Battlestar Galactica (Crossroads: Part 2)? Having the opportunity to watch it with some of the stars of the show. Desiree Washington (popdecay.com) gave us this very opportunity when she organized the S3 Finale party at the posh club, the Republic, in Hollywood. Fans on the Scifi.com forums were very excited about this event and had been discussing rumors on who might attend.
I drove up from San Diego with my friend Michael Switzer who was not a Battlestar Galactica fan, but he was able to appreciate the whole coolness of the event. We were the first ones there and had a chat with the doorman while we waited. He didn't know anything about the show but he talked about all the stars that come in and out of the place. He said the club across the street was also really popular and was a hangout spot of Paris Hilton. Soon Desiree arrived to get the party started. Jeremy (Sephiroth144) was also on hand to help and introduce us to people.
Desiree did a fantastic job organizing the event last minute, and for 65 dollars per person, you got in the door, plus were served hor'dourves, and treated to the season finale on 3 big screen tvs. Cast members in attendance were Luciana Carro (Kat), Michael Trucco (Anders), and Bodie Olmos (Hotdog, and son of Edward James Olmos). The event was intimate and not crowded at all, giving everyone a good opportunity the mingle and meet the stars that we've admired throughout the first three seasons.
The last episode was actually going to be showed twice, but there were sound problems during the first viewing, but this was not a problem as this gave people the chance to walk around and introduce themselves to each other.
Lucy was the first of the stars to arrive and looked amazing. She really went out of her way to meet all of her fans. Bodie was a bit quieter but seem to enjoy the festivities as well. Michael Trucco also was surrounded by fans throughout the night. He sat in the viewing room with the fans the show began.
The night was not without drama. In the middle of the court scene the television turned off and nobody could figure out how to turn it back on! Michael Trucco tried to fix it but to no avail. A couple of minutes later they fixed the problem to everyone's relief. Michael quietly made his exit before the end of the episode, I guess he didn't want to be around when it was revealed what had become of his character!
I won't spoil you with the details of the finale in case people have not seen it, but it's filled with big surprises and ends with a huge cliffhanger. Everyone seemed to be satisfied with the party and we look forward to more parties organized by Desiree.
